The variants can be roughly divided into the many basic models and the Tesla X Plaid model based on the model names. The basic models have an all-wheel drive with two engines, while the new Plaid variant has three engines. Due to the three engines, the power at the top exceeds the four-digit mark and amounts to 1,020 hp - an acceleration value from 0 to 100 in 2.6 seconds makes the Tesla Model X SUV the most powerful mass-produced SUV in the world, according to the manufacturer.
Important in connection with the different variants of the Model X is the term facelift, which initially caused some confusion. Tesla Facelift is not its own model, but only a new edition of the Tesla X. This is what happened with the refresh in 2021:
- Since 2021, the Tesla Model X has only been sold in the "Maximum Range" and "Plaid" variants
- The interior has been extensively redesigned
- The entire vehicle has been futuristically refurbished by innovative elements such as the rectangular putty steering wheel
Since about June 2021, the Model X Tesla can therefore only be ordered as a new car in the revised facelift variant. Previous variants (e.g. 60D, 90D, 100D) are only available as used cars.
The previous models differ from the new facelift models mainly in that they have a lower battery capacity and performance. The model names provide information about the battery capacity in kWh: For example, the Tesla Model X 90D has a battery capacity of 90 kWh. If a model name has a "P" before the number, then it is a performance variant that has several hundred hp higher power than models with the same battery capacity without a "P" in the model name.

The prices for used Tesla Model X of the first generation for the X75D and the X90D are between 55,000 and 65,000 €. These are mostly models from the years 2016 and 2017. For follow-up models such as the Tesla Model X P100D from 2019, about 85,000 € used are called. Among them are the models with Ludicrous feature; this feature gives the Model P100D a power of 795 hp and can lead to a used price of about 95,000 €. An ordinary X100D from 2017 for comparison costs used around 65,000 € and is therefore only insignificantly more expensive than the models X75D and X90D. When buying used, there are models with higher battery capacity and performance at a small extra charge compared to weaker models.
Offers of the Model X Tesla with daily registration or as an annual car are difficult to find, the new Model X in the facelift variant can be ordered for delivery from 2022. Earlier models, on the other hand, are often still in the hands of the first owners or are from the years 2016 to 2019.
As far as the import of a Tesla Model X arrives, no faster delivery is to be expected than when buying the newer models in Germany. For older models, the compatibility of the American equipment with the German laws is partly uncertain. Overall, the import is not a recommendable option that runs without much bureaucratic effort.
If you are satisfied with the older models 90D and 100D, you can lease the Tesla Model X for monthly installments of just over 700 €. Newer and more powerful models such as the Tesla Model X Maximum Range cost around €1,000 per month. Leasing rates have also already been set for the Model X Plaid. These fluctuate in most offers between 1,400 and 1,500 € per month. In addition, all vehicles are subject to five-digit special leasing payments; for older models just over 10,000 €, for new models between 25,000 € and 30,000 €.

The equipment of the Tesla Model X knows how to convince both in the big picture and in the small details. In addition to small highlights, such as .B the door that opens by stepping on the brakes, the Model X also offers aspects such as the steering wheel or the largest storage space in SUV history.
Appearance: A giant that is memorably elegant
The new Tesla Model X SUV measures 5.05 meters in length, 2 meters in width and 1.68 meters in height. However, due to the compact design, the car does not leave the impression of an SUV giant, ; strictly speaking, the Model X Tesla is to be classified as an SUV coupe. The gullwing doors (Falcon Wings), which can be opened in a space-saving manner via two joints, make a significant contribution to the elegant impression. From the outside, the particularly long windscreen, which reaches almost to the B-pillar and allows vehicle occupants a special view, is already noticeable.
White, black, silver, blue, red - these are the possible coats of paint in which the Tesla Model X SUV drives. Apart from the white paintwork, any other color costs an extra charge. This is €1,600 each for black, silver and blue, while Tesla charges €2,900 extra for a red paintwork.
Otherwise, Tesla has been installing a fixed and no longer extendable rear spoiler in the new Tesla Model X SUV since 2021. The basic interior does not vary between the Maximum Range versions (the basic variant on the Tesla Model X 2021) and Plaid. Since the facelift update, the square putty handlebar - called "Yoke" by Tesla himself - has been a core optical feature. Differences in the equipment of the vehicles result from the individual configuration. 20-inch rims are provided ex works, only an upgrade as part of the configuration brings the 22-inch rims and thus the improved grip and the optimized handling in curves. The functions of autopilot and autonomous driving must also be booked manually in the configuration process, because although Tesla attributes the pioneering role to itself in autonomous driving, these features are not included ex works.
