The Tesla Model X is the third model of the American manufacturer of electric cars. This 100% electric SUV is based on the same platform as the Model S and stands out thanks to its very special doors and its 7 real seats. History of the Tesla Model X
The Tesla Model X is a 100% electric SUV that can accommodate up to 7 people on board, with their luggage. It is presented by the manufacturer as being "faster than a Porsche 911 and more spacious than an Audi Q7".
Its commercialization began in the USA in 2015 and the first deliveries in Europe started in France early 2016.The "falcon" doors of the Tesla Model X
The Model X can accommodate 7 passengers, and is equipped with a new door opening kinematics. The doors open upwards, folding back so as not to take up too much lateral space. This is one of the peculiarities of the car that is the most talked about!
While one might have thought that these doors would disappear with the production model, the boss of Tesla decided that they would equip the production model well, which gave the engineers a hard time. Nevertheless, it has become a real asset of the electric SUV. Model X battery and battery life
The Model X shares the same battery system available on the Model S. The battery capacity is estimated at around 100 kWh for the "Long Range" version, which is now approaching 600 km of range in the WLTP cycle.
The Plaid version, the most extreme, will approach 550 km on one charge thanks to a battery of about 120 kWh. Both the engine and the battery are guaranteed for 8 years, unlimited mileage. VersionWTPLengage Autonomy580 kmPlaid547 kmMotorization and performance of the Tesla Model X
The engine of the Model X is similar to that of the Model S. The SUV is only available in four-wheel drive. It is more the acceleration that differs, while the top speed of the electric SUV is around 250 km / h.
- Long range: The Dual Motor all-wheel drive makes it reach 100 km/h in standing start in just under 4 seconds, since this version is also based on the scheme of one engine per axle.
- Plaid: The acceleration of the Plaid version is much more impressive with 2.6 seconds to complete the 0 to 100 km/h. This version will also require specific wheels and rims that will be available towards the end of 2021, when it is placed on the market.
Tesla is rolling out a network of ultra-fast charging stations, called superchargers, that allow a Model X to be charged very quickly. While the first customers were able to benefit from "lifetime" superchargers, new customers now have to pay a charging fee depending on the country. In France, the price of superchargers is set at 0.24 €/kWh.
Initially limited to 120 kW, the charging power of the Model X was increased to 200 kW in April 2019. A power that is however only compatible with the V3 Superchargers, third generation. On other superchargers, the maximum permissible power is 145 kW.The interior of the Model X
Since January 2021, the Tesla Model X has been extensively updated. It benefits from the famous Yoke inspired by aviation, and the prototype of the Tesla Roadster. The vertical screen becomes horizontal but keeps the same size with 12 inches.
As on all other models of the manufacturer, the instrumentation is 100% digital, the buttons on the steering wheel only used to make the choices in the menus. Nevertheless, unlike the Model 3 and Model Y, the Model X retains a screen above the steering wheel. The latter could also be available in full version. The Tesla Model X and Autopilot
As standard, the Tesla Model X incorporates an Autopilot function. This allows your vehicle to hold a trajectory, accelerate and brake for you if other vehicles or pedestrians are in its lane. Two other paid options are offered and offer more comprehensive features. Improved Autopilot – 3800 €
- Navigation with Autopilot: assistance in driving from the insertion lane to the motorway exit, including on interchanges and to overtake slower vehicles.
- Car lane change: Lane changes are automated on the highway.
- Car parking: parking in niche and battle.
- Car exit: Park your vehicle and automatically remove it from its location.
- All the features of the basic Autopilot and the improved Autopilot.
- Recognition and response to traffic lights and stop signs.
The price of the Tesla Model X is slightly higher than that of the Model S. This base price is 99,990 euros for the Long Range version. It will take 20,000 euros more for the Plaid version, which will be released at the end of the year. VersionPriceLarge Range99.990 €Plaid119.990 €Photos of the Tesla Model X
